old asics wrestling shoes
What can I do to make my walking/jogging more comfortable?

I am training for a 5K (my first ever) and I was walking/jogging with an old pair of Asics, which hurt my feet, so I bought an new pair and they REALLY bother my feet. They also don’t seem to give me much support at all and since I am on the “heavy side” I need all the shock absorbing I can get. I also tend to jog/run on the balls of my feet, which seems the most comfortable, but these new shoes just don’t seem to flex at all. Any suggestions for better comfort so I can last through the race without having to slow down or stop? Someone did suggest wrestling shoes, but I don’t think they would have much shock absorption for the shin pain I often feel when running on the pavement.

Go to a specialty running store. They can fit you with the correct shoe for your running style.

Don’t get wrestling shoes. They are horrible for running.
