Wrestling In Gym Class Footwear?

For all you guys out there in High School (grade 8 – 12); if you did do wrestling in P.E class; were you allowed socks or was it barefeet only? We’re starting the unit again and its bare feet for us – was anyone allowed to wear socks for gym class wrestling

At my high school we were given the choice of either, although i wore socks myself as it was easier to wrestle in them.
